Exhausted

I know, I'm being dramatic. You should all be super judge-y while reading this post, I really have no reason to complain. But I'm exhausted. Mentally, physically, emotionally. Why? Why, you ask? 24 hours with Kylie. Not even a weekend (which is coming), not four years, just 24 hours. Most of the time with her was great. Most of the unhappy times were due to poor planning and no idea how to interact with a four year old. It's like I just can't understand why she doesn't do exactly what I say, exactly when I say it. This is the first child I've ever interacted with. Clearly. But here are some good times, and some of the less than ideal moments of the day.

My big idea for the day: Fashion show. How it should have worked: Kylie picks out a bunch of outfits, we make a fun runway, put some music on, I'm the photographer, and away we go! How it actually worked: Kylie thought it was a dumb idea. She picked out one outfit for her day, and her Tinkerbell costume. She tried one walk down the runway, informed me she wasn't doing that any more. She did enjoy picking out the music:

Then we tried watercolors...
...which she tried to suck the water off the paintbrush.

Then we tried finger paints.
Went pretty well. Though there was green paint on her arms all the way until bath time that night.

Then we tried markers, which she used as lipstick.  We got through that, and she wrote a story, and a picture to go with it:

We brainstormed before we decided on the final story, and let me tell you, kid's got a gruesome imagination!

Next idea, go outside to burn off some steam.

The rope swing (thanks to Grandma Lyla) is more of swing the rope and try to get it stuck in the tree:

Congratulations, we've made it to 10:30. Only nine hours to go.

Next post will be all sorts of pictures of Chester, the 10:30-11:30 success story.
