Mom and Jerry came up for the holiday weekend. They were troopers as it got really hot and of course, as most Duluthians, we don't have A/C. So we all just took it in stride and relaxed as much as we could, spending a lot of time out on the deck which is mostly shaded. Kylie enjoyed the extra attention all weekend, of course! And we learned Kylie can't say "grandma and grandpa" and it's either "grandma grandma" or "grandpa grandpa." Pretty cute.
We went to the recently opened Texas Roadhouse for dinner. Going to a sit down restaurant is usually a gamble, but Kylie did quite well. They serve very yummy homemade bread with a cinnamon butter; she thought it was pretty tasty and enjoyed her own container of butter.

We went to the Children's Museum and the Depot to kill some time (I think we all secretly were enjoying the air conditioning!).
Kylie enjoyed her first fireworks as Jon stayed home with her last year. We napped her late that day and she did quite well watching the "boom booms". About half way through she was quite bored as we'd already been there quite a while, but with a few distractions she made it! She spent a lot of time throwing rocks in the water while we waited. After the grandparents left, we headed to the zoo and had a picnic. Kylie couldn't have cared LESS about any of the animals because she spotted the park on our way in. She walked through the zoo whining "park, park, park." Annoying. And THAT is all we've been up to. Tomorrow we're heading to the beach with friends; first time this year!
I LOVE the summer updates. I went out for a swim on the lake for the first time today, and the neighbor has a kid named Kylie (3ish? maybe 4? older than my Kylie), who swam right over to me and insisted on talking to me. It made me miss the real deal quite a bit. So, I did play with her for about 10 minutes. Sort of.
