I've been lazy and not wanting to blog. Mostly cuz I really don't have good pictures to share (although I never seem to suffer from lack of words...).
Let's see...
1) We started listening to the "How to Raise a Spirited Child" on our last road trip. Coincidentally (ha, right), Kylie started screaming and we had to shut it off. But we heard enough to know that although she does have some of the characteristics, she definitely is not as spirited as the bulk of the children discussed in that book. A side note, she screamed the last hour of our drive and as soon as she saw the lake, she knew we were home, calmed down, and was fine.

2) I was supposed to be in Nashville this week for another conference, but nature thought better of it. Talk about irony: 2,500 people attempting to convene re: Emergency Preparedness get flooded out. We've been rescheduled for Las Vegas the first week in June.

3) Jon and I will be heading right after that to visit my BFF from high school/college (San Fransisco) and Jon's sister (Olmpia/Seattle). We already had that booked when my work trip got postponed so my poor child might forget who mommy is when all is said and done. Or more likely, will just really test me when I return!
4) Thankfully Jon's mom will be helping out with some of the time for Kylie so she can be at home. Fae and Dave will graciously (as always) take her for the rest. By the way, she allows Fae to do ANYthing with her hair and leaves it in. She always looks so old (and put together) when I go pick her up!

5) Kylie continues to use the potty, but mostly because doing so is rewarded with sugar. We are nowhere NEAR underwear or anything crazy like that...we'll be contributing to the landfills for a while yet. We've also contemplated the toddler bed, but will wait until all travels are over to embark on that adventure.

6) Sunday morning I was greeted with "Hoppy Mummers Dee" as Jon had been working with her on that while I was in the shower. That was about as "Hoppy" as things got around here that day as she was on a 4-day nap strike that about brought us to our knees (she has since resumed napping and has been quite enjoyable!). You can see she was delighted when I whipped the camera out.

That about sums up our fairly uneventful lives!

Hey Jo. I always check out what has been going on with you three and I just wanted you to know you are not alone in the Sprited child thing. I read the Raising the Spirited Child as well as the second one. They are excellent books. The other one is love and logic for parents by Jim Faye. Anyway, having an hour long fit is definitely tough. Call me when it gets to a three hour one....constant screaming for three hours is horrendous but that was Bethany's longest! Man, that was a long day. Anyway, I can feel your pain and if you ever need to talk, let me know.
Becky
