Happy Mother's Day to all the great moms out there. Due to Kylie's two near-death experiences on Saturday, I likely won't be voted mother of the year. OK, near-death might be a stretch, but they certainly got my heart racing a bit.
Scary scenario #1
Remember how I just said she climbs up the stairs? Well, until she we can teach her how to get down by herself, we'll be using a gate at each staircase. And if she is sitting at the top, hollering at me to help her down, I'll listen a bit quicker. Otherwise I take the chance of seeing her fly down the entire staircase, flipping end over end (seemingly in slow motion). Luckily, I was near the staircase and interceded before she slammed into the wall at the bottom. She was not scarred in any way...she cried a bit and was quickly back at it.
Scary scenario #2
We were at a friend's house who has two young boys. Kylie was playing well and keeping herself entertained. Until she found the boys' chore chart...with tiny magnets about the size of a dime. Being the observant mother I am, she already had 3 in her mouth with a 4th on its way by the time I saw her. I imagine they could have lodged in her airway quite easily. But they didn't.
So to all the good moms out there, I'm sure you can relate with your own "oh crap" moments and if not...well, I'd like to meet you. I don't think you exist. And to all the mom's who have kept your kids alive and well until they move out of your care (including my own mom and mother-in-law!), congrats and job well done. What a humbling experience.

This is a great post, Jo! Great picture, too!
I'm sure I gave my mom a heart attack more than once! I hope other than those two incidents that you had a nice weekend!
