We ventured out to get our tree on the 6th- a very cold day considering we don't really have outdoor clothes for Kylie. All we have is a fleece bunting thing that doesn't stop the wind. There are advantages to a small child: she still fits inside my jacket quite well (we took her out for the picture above)! Her feet hung out some so I just wrapped a blanket around them. So the plan was find a tree really fast then Kylie and I would hang out in the little shed sipping cocoa while Jon loaded the tree. The plan worked well as Jon found a really cute tree in probably under 3 minutes. Our high ceilings dwarf the tree somewhat, but it's still cute.
Here are some pictures of Kylie "helping" decorate. Before you look at the pictures, the answer is yes, we're bad parents (or so it would seem). 1) There are candles burning within her reach (she didn't even notice) 2) she's playing with Christmas lights that are plugged in (I figure if they're safe to have indoors or out, little hands aren't going to cause any trouble) and 3) I let her play with some tree bulbs (and yes she broke one while banging them together). Oh yeah, and the tree fell on her, too. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of that, but she did have a scratch on her face for a few days. Mean mommy, I laughed before I picked the tree up off of her. She got over it pretty quick and hasn't demonstrated any post traumatic stress from the incident! Even better, she acknowledges the tree, but isn't overly interested which is nice.

i like the balloons coming out of Jon's head.
Great family picture with the tree!!!
Oh it's fine, Jo. :) They'll never learn if you remove everything that could possibly be "dangerous", right? Cute pictures!!! And I heard about the Christmas tree incident, too. Ours was lying on the floor when we came home from church last Sunday - good times cleaning that up!!
Nice tree!!! There's something special about a real Christmas tree...the look, the smell.... We went ahead with the fake one again this year, but hope to start a new tradition of a real tree next year. Kylie couldn't get much cuter, what a doll.
