Lest anybody be worried that we may be bored here in the Thompson house...Dakota got sprayed by a skunk on Saturday night. Don't worry, I'm soon to be a pro in handling this as no, this isn't the first time this has happened. The silver lining: this time it was just the dog instead of the dog and me that got sprayed.
So I don't have any pictures, but you can imagine what this looked like:
Jon and I had to try "de-skunking" her yesterday afternoon. It was cool out, of course, but whatever- we had to get it done. So we're washing her in the backyard (we usually bathe her in the front yard to water the hill a bit, but I convinced Jon the neighbors can seek entertainment elsewhere this time). We're grossed out, trying not to have her rub on our clothes (but don't worry, I saved my clothes from last time this happened). Well, neither of us had a good grip on her head and she decided to shake....ever try to STOP a dog in the middle of shaking excess water off their bodies? Yeah, doesn't work very well. So we've been sprayed, the dog is ticked off (no idea she caused this by cornering a skunk in the yard), and Kylie is watching us from the stroller, crying because nobody is paying attention to her. It was a blast, let me tell you. The end result was... still a stinky dog. We'll have to re-wash her later in the week. After we were done washing her, Jon took Kylie and I ventured inside to try getting the smell out of her invisible fence collar. I think that might be more challenging than getting Dakota smelling better. She's wondering why we won't pet her...hmmm, stupid, it's your fault.
Anyway, like I said, a bit too busy to grab a picture, but I'm sure by now you have a pretty good visual in your minds as to what the Thompson circus looked like on a leisurely Sunday afternoon!
