Baby Burrito Unwrapped

Big news in the Thompson house...Kylie is no longer swaddled. Friday I woke up and decided we were done with it. I knew Jon would not disagree. Of course, we've been thinking about it for a while and with the weather getting warmer, finally did it. I just about had a meltdown listening to her cry for her first nap, realizing I could fix it by just swaddling her. So I called Fae (always my voice of reason) and the conversation went something like this:
Me: I decided we're done swaddling Kylie and she's in her crib screaming right now. How long do I let her cry?
Fae: Why do you want to be done swaddling?
Me: Well, it's getting warmer, she's getting older, and it's hard for other people to take care of her since the average human being can't get her wrapped tight enough.
Fae: Alright then. You and Jon are the parents and she'll adjust to what you want her to do. She's just telling you she's ticked off right now. Eventually she'll get tired enough and give up. You're not hurting her and she'll be fine.
I think I just needed my decision to be validated...or something. Fae makes everything sound so simple! So Friday pretty much stunk, Saturday got better, Sunday better yet. And today she regressed a bit. But she's figuring things out and is realizing she can actually relax AND have access to her hands at the same time.

On Saturday Kylie went to her first Grandma's Marathon. It was a beautiful morning, perfect for spectating (my preferred vantage point after running three half marathons myself). Kylie slept for the first while then even got the attention of quite a few runners which we thought was funny.

That night, Jon and I tag teamed domestic abilities to good use and made a raspberry rhubarb pie from scratch, crust and all. I thought it looked pretty darn cool (our first lattice-top pie) and tasted just as good!Otherwise, just enjoying the awesome weather because winter is coming!!!

Hi! I am new here. That pie looks yummy. I swaddled my little one until she as 7 months. She just could not settle down without her swaddle. Other people though we were nutty but it worked for us. You have to do what works fo you!

Hi Jo! Sounds like you are glad that the swaddling days are over. Hope that's still going well for her. Your pie looks awesome. I tried making an apple one like that once, but it didn't look nearly as good as yours! Have a great week.
