Manic Monday Musings

What. A. Day. My alarm should have woke me screaming, "Buckle up, baby, it's gonna be a doozy!"

Suffice it to say:
- I was reacquainted with bed wetting via Sophie. For some reason, her diaper, although not all THAT full, leaked all over this morning. Impromptu load of laundry, easily fixable. But I'm thankful we have washing machines to do the work for me.

-  I was shocked to see a map of yet ANOTHER snowmaggedon heading our way. I'm smart enough to know March can be a really snowy month. Yet I'm optimistic enough to assume we have paid our dues for the year. In full. This system already cancelled work meetings for Tuesday and Wednesday. But I'm thankful I can work from home.

- We knew our grant would be taking a huge hit next year, but the results came out today that it's going to be even worse than predicted due to changing of the funding formula. This will certainly change the way I work. But I'm thankful I have a good paying, flexible job that should continue yet another year.

- Sophie still doesn't sleep much if at all at daycare and I picked up one exhausted baby this afternoon. But despite an hour or two of misery, she remains a very happy baby and she continues to sleep through the night.

- Got home to realize the chicken curry I'd prepared in the crockpot hadn't cooked a bit. Yeah, you see, the on switch only works when the dumb thing is plugged in. Grrr, my disdain for wasting food is so great, but obviously, we didn't risk it with the raw chicken sitting in there all day. But we have more food in the fridge and can afford a stupid mistake. Some can't.

What mighta been...

Part of what we ended up with...strawberries, mango, pineapple, cucumbers, and blackberries.

It was one of those days I definitely just had to start laughing a bit because nothing I did or thought was going to change anything above. God has a sense of humor, for sure. But we have a lot to be thankful for on a daily basis including our two healthy girlies.

Yes, poor Sophie got called a boy twice at church yesterday. Oops. In my defense, the shirt is pink, not red, and the bibs have a pink bow on them. Ha!

Wow. Something must have been in the air today. My day was better than yours, but still, oddly dysfunctional. Sophie really wouldn't be a Thompson unless she was mistaken for a boy several times before she is two. :)
