The Beargrease

-puffy jacket

I think I'm ready to go.

For the first time ever I went to see The Beargrease, a dogsled race that starts just a few miles from JonJo's place. Think a much shorter than the Iditarod (400 miles vs 1200), but the longest in the lower 48.

Here are the dogs, waiting to race (a mite excited, you may note):

A couple of videos of the race. One at the starting line, the other a bit farther up.

All of this reminded me of what we still do, despite the cold:

This guy was actually pretty cool. He looked like Chewbacca to me, but no, he is a muskox. He was getting the word out about his organization who takes wounded vets up north, fishing, over the summer. The only thing anyone said was, "well, he's warm."

Ahem...

Two more interesting things I saw that day: a garage sale and some guy building a house. Washington is a much easier place to live.
