Whirlwind!

It's been a crazy couple of weeks! We started off in NU for mom's retirement party, where Kylie stayed since Miss Fae was going to be gone. Jon and I came home and worked hard for a few days before heading out Thursday morning to meet Kylie in St. Cloud. From there, it was an impromptu lunch with old friends in Little Falls on our way to camping at Itasca State Park. After two nights there, we headed to Brainerd to stay with Holly and Pat so I could try a new activity, a Mud Run. We got back Sunday night and were glad we did as we spend all Sunday evening and Monday getting our lives back together before the fall schedules kick in! Lots of pix to share.....

Rocks, dirt, mud, sand, or water and this kid is basically occupied...this was within minutes of pulling into our campsite:

She had to take some work calls and apparently "they" weren't listening to her, so she said:

Like I said before...

We went on a hike and quickly realized how much damage the July 3rd storm caused to the park...we did a fair amount of climbing in addition to walking:

The crew at the head of the Mighty Mississippi...

Showing her mad balancing skills:

And again...

Fast forward to Brainerd. Fun with Pat (and Holly, too):

Our little monkey figuring the bars out:

This is generally what we find her doing when something is unfamiliar to her. In this case, GoKart racing. She loved it (and happened to mention mom is a better driver than dad):

Did I mention we had the lead for quite some time?

After riding with me, she insisted she drive her own car. It took a bit to figure out the gas and steering simultaneously, but she got it:

A stop in the "pit" (dead battery!)

Followed by ice cream, only 1.5 hours past normal bedtime:

Fast forward again to Pillager, home of the Mud Run. My shirt is "will run for cupcakes" and Kylie's is "Lil Cupcake", or as she said, the "clean cupcake."

"A Bunch of Cupcakes and a Sugar Daddy"

And Holly was "dirty lil cupcake"

The last "obstacle" and by far the most fun:

Yes, it was fun...

Hosed off by none other than the Pillager FD. Come on, how many of you have even heard of the place before? Ironically, enough, Jon had previously been to this very camp as a boy for "Royal Rangers" from church. Ironic.

Now, bring on Fall and our new routine! Next up...preschool and swimming lessons!
