Birthday Fun

I think Jon would agree he had a good birthday! He woke up to coffee and baked apple french toast which beats his usual bowl of cereal. Off to work he went as usual only to be surprised when I "picked him up for lunch" and told him he could shut his computer down...he was done for the day. Brenda is a wonderfully accommodating, flexible, and sweet boss who helped me keep Jon clueless about the afternoon. We went out with friends for sushi and then snowshoeing at Hartley Park. It was beautiful and relaxing all while getting a decent workout...good news considering all the food we enjoyed throughout the day!

Kylie wishing dad a Happy Birthday before he heads to work...
Yummy breakfast...even after halving the recipe he got 3 meals out of it;-)
Meanwhile, Mr. Crockpot and Mrs. Breadmaker were busy making dinner (lasagna and bread) so we could have friends over and I didn't spend much time in the kitchen. We had a blast eating, laughing, and playing a game. Dessert was a homemade brownie bottom peanut butter cheesecake and coffee. The kids kept themselves well occupied with toys and a movie which was great (minus the occasional cry from other children...Kylie was being a brute)!

The beauty of low-maintenance friends...they let you try recipes on them. Apparently it wasn't too bad- here is what was left.
I think this is thumbs up for dessert? Not sure, Fae...
Momentarily engrossed by the movie while enjoying their "dessert" (Twizzlers).

Good food, great friends (did I mention low maintenance?), beautiful outdoors, and a cozy house....aahhhhhhhhhh.

That first picture of you two might be the best one of Jon on file! (there are plenty awesome ones of you, you're not an un-photogenic Thompson...)! Awesome post! And a way better explanation than Jon's (as always).

Love your sharing of the day. What fun. Great way to have the "machine maids" cook for you. And great picture of you two. Could you please send it to me.
