"Um....She's a Busy Girl!"

The title of my post is the response I got after calling Jon's mom, near the end of our trip, to ask, "How's it going?" Yup, she sums up the life of toddler parents quite well! I thought that was hilarious coming from the grandma who has more energy than any other I know...Kylie successfully executed her job as a 2 year old and she did it quite well.
No really, Kylie did fantastic while we were gone which was no surprise. She stayed with Dave and Fae from Friday-Tuesday and then Grandma Lyla came here for over a week, joined briefly by Grandpa Peter. Although Kylie was happy to see us, she did absolutely great while we were gone and readjusted to having us back just fine.

Our trip was great...warm, sunny, and relaxing. We really didn't do a whole lot besides sunbathe, snorkel, and eat. The weather really couldn't have been better as it was hot enough to have to get in the pool/ocean, but not so hot that it was intolerable. Pure sun everyday, with a few occassional clouds to cool us off. Glorious. We went with the same couple as last year, Troy and Hilary and it went well again (at least, we think so....maybe they have differing opinions!). Our ports included: St. Thomas (we went to St. John instead), St. Lucia, Tortola, Barbados, and Antigua.
Let's see, highlights probably include:

- Being the last 4 on the ship at our first port (they literally were pulling up the gangway after Jon swiped his card)

- Seeing our head waiter from last year (different ship) on this ship! Genel is from Romania and we learned more about him this year which was fun. He leaves his family for much of the year to work on the ships and recently spent his first Christmas in TWELVE YEARS with his family. That proves how hard the people on these ships work!
- Enjoying some of the best beaches EVER. These were the kind of beaches you see in magazines and advertisements. Throughout our different cruise destinations, I'm certainly learning beaches can vary drastically, these by far being the best so far.
I should add that getting to this beach took 1 1/2 hours and one CRAZY ride to get there. We went through some major terrain including mountains and rainforest. The driver even stopped at a local bakery and bought us some bread hot out of the oven.

- Watching the Superbowl on the huge outdoor movie screen (actually Jon was the only one who really cared).

- Troy and I coming back with Staph infections...oops, not a highlight. I've unofficially sworn off hot tubs as I'm convinced that's where we picked it up (of course, it could have been ANYwhere, but hot tubs already severely gross me out). As if I needed another reason to avoid those bacteria-laden breeding pools. Yuck. I can't believe I wanted to be a nurse at one point- taking care of my leg has brought me to my knees in nausea.

Life is back to normal now. This weekend I'll be in Brainerd, jumping in frigid waters to zap out any remaining tan. Then on the 10th I leave for a work trip to Denver. Jon and Kylie will be holding down the fort both times!
