I'll finally take a minute to post an update...our lives have kind of been a flurry. Summer was so relaxed and plans weren't often made more than a few days ahead of time. Fall on the other hand arrived with much more on the calendar and that will remain true through all of October for sure.
We took Kylie camping for the first time a few weeks ago. It went alright. I wish I had a better picture of our car (keep in mind, it's a 4-door sedan) to show how packed it was! We even had the dog with. Luckily, we went close by so we could be uncomfortable squeezed in (also nice to be close when Jon had to run home for the pack and play that we forgot!). It was somewhat wet the first day and Kylie didn't care for sleeping in the tent, despite me thinking it would go off w/o a hitch with the pack and play. Jon's boss, Brenda, loaned us a little 4-wheeler for Kylie to use which was ridiculously cute.

More recently, work has been busy for me. I had a 3-day Incident Command class in Mankato last week and a Region V Conference in Milwaukee this week. I have to give a shout out to the wonderful grandparents who graciously spent TONS of time taking great care of Kylie (and us, for that matter- I haven't cooked a meal in two weeks!). I haven't seen her much in the last two weeks, but it wasn't too hard knowing she was having fun and was in great care. They are all amazed at the shift in her attitude when Jon or I enter the scene; it's quite ridiculous, but I guess if she's going to be naughty, I'd rather it's for us! Depending on how H1N1 unfolds in the coming weeks, I'll continue to be quite busy with work.
Jon's grandma passed away last week so we had the funeral for her. It was a nice service outlining her almost 94 years of life! We're thankful she and Kylie got to meet about a year ago, which absolutely thrilled grandma.

Kylie's favorite things to do lately are play with pretend food, putting anything inside of anything, and reading books/being read to. Her speech is getting noticeably better which is really encouraging and fun to listen to, particularly "okey dokey" and "ashes ashes ashes ashes DOWN."

Savor this post...it might be it again for a while!

Kylie in the kennel is a great way to contain her!!! Love the video of her blowing a kiss as a thank you!
So when you said pack n play, did you really mean dog kennel? ;-) How exciting that you took her on her first camping trip! Glad to hear it went ok!
Thanks!! Love it, LOVE!
