A week in review:
Kylie got bit by another child for the first time. The perpetrator will remain unnamed as the mom feels awful enough. Kylie didn't even cry and I actually laughed when I found out; the first of many battle wounds. You can see a scratch on her neck that coincided with the suspect holding her down for a better bite:-)

Apparently Dakota got bit by a deer tick as she became lifeless about a week ago. She was acting lethargic, almost paralyzed. A $150 trip to the vet and 3 weeks worth of meds later, we have a brand new dog. ONE DOSE and she was chomping at the bit again. I'm not going to lie, I rather enjoyed the lethargic and quiet dog. I enjoyed a few solo runs during those days.
I allowed Kylie to wear her Viking jersey given the Green Bay rivalry. I'm not watching the Vikes this year because I completely disagree with #4 ever being allowed on the team. But seen as there are two parents in this house, one of who still thinks the Vikes are cool, I let it slide.

Kylie then spiked a fever for a couple of days. I thought about giving her a dose of Dakota's medicine seen how well it worked for her. Ha! She snapped out of it on her own and never had any other symptoms except for being ridiculously clutzy. I don't know if it's possible to get a fever with a growth spurt, but I'd wager yes. Who knows.
This weekend we went back to NU/St. Peter for "Christmas" on my dad's side. It's great doing it in the summer/fall since the actual holidays get so busy. This way most everybody can make it and it's not generally as stressful. The family keeps "spawning" (thanks for the word, Tanya) so it's getting pretty busy. We attempted pictures of 1) children (as in my grandparents' children) 2) grandchildren (I don't have that one yet) 3) great and great-great grandchildren and 4) families. Don't be fooled, I think everybody was mostly sober. At least close!

We stopped by Jim's Apple Barn on our way back to Duluth. The biting wind just about had us on our knees so we chose two pumpkins and ran inside. Burrr. I'm also ecstatic to report that southern MN is in a weather warning and we are NOT. This time.

Finally, we stayed at Jon's mom's house (she wasn't there, though) where Fido happens to live. Fido is a huge cat with an attitude. Enter Kylie, a fiesty and mean 1 1/2 year old whose vocabulary simple won't entertain "gentle." I decided to let nature take it's course and she wound up with a big old scratch on her hand. And much like the bite earlier in the week....it didn't phase her.

loved the pictures Jo! thanks for the fun update! miss you.
Kylie = scrappy! That's my girl! Though Fido and Kylie are about the same size, I'd suspect it would be a Rocky style fight, in which Kylie gets the crap beat out of her, but eventually wins through being able to take it and wearing the fat kitty out. Go Scrappy!
