Catch Up!

Wow, sorry for the few of you who still look at this. I haven't been all that busy, but simply haven't blogged. Since I last wrote:

Kylie had her first kiss (well, the first one we knew about) from a little friend in Iowa.We went to Brighton Beach to throw rocks in the water. We had a very successful neighborhood block party with the intention of gathering support and interest in a neighborhood watch group. My neighbor Jodi did a great job of getting things organized and is a huge catalyst for what we hope is change for the better here in the 'hood. While we kept it simple with root beer floats, it was fun to meet people who live so close (we had lots of "seasoned" folks come who loved all the little kids!). We also had a visit from the fire department (yeah, I know, we're practically on a first name basis with them!), our neighborhood police officer, and a county commissioner. Kylie, of course, was all about the ice cream.

Then Kylie and I headed for the cities after nap on Thursday to hang out with family. She screamed (as in, temper tantrum) for about 60-70 minutes of the trip. And that was WITH a stop in Hinckley. She's got a lot to learn if she's going on any long road trips with Jon who practically maps our our potty breaks (based on needing food or gas!). But we made it to my cousin's where she had a blast playing with other kids (picture below is Jackson kindly sharing his sucker with Kylie). We attempted the Como Zoo on Friday, but the cities finally got rain after being dry for what, like a year? Kylie's expression below, along with her wet head, kind of says it all. We ended up hanging out at my cousin's and some of us did some shopping. After weighing my options of when Kylie would least torture my sanity, I decided to make the trek Friday night. She didn't end up sleeping until 9:30, past Hinckely, but she also didn't cry so I considered it a success. It was a short, but fun visit.Yesterday was met with some mystery "illness" yet again...it was looking a lot like the last time she had pink eye. Fae graciously took her anyway (Murhpy's law...she ALWAYS gets something on a day I really need to be at work). She's woke up a little stuffy and really has digressed again throughout the morning. We'll see what she's like after nap!

This morning we went for Kylie's (and Matea's) first trip to the SANDY beach. You would have never guessed there were 8 kiddos and only 3 moms (only two were on loan!). Kylie seemed to halfway enjoy it- didn't go in the water too much, but liked the sand. And I'm becoming my mother- the sand drove me nutso. I might have to get over that for a few years. Or take her to the rocky beach instead:-)

And finally, a little video of Kylie saying a few of her words that are finally coming along. Her speech has been a slow process, but she's getting it.
