Exploring

Kylie and I have been exploring during the days and trying to find creative ways to spend time outside; between cool weather and keeping her out of danger (i.e. the alley and lots of stairs!), it can prove fairly difficult. We're not the kind of people to go buy a bunch of junk for the yard yet I'm somewhat stumped as to how to occupy her and still satisfy her growing curiosity. Even a lot of the parks are geared toward older kids. But we're still having fun. She loves playing in Dakota's water, drawing with sidewalk chalk (or, dumping the chalk out and replacing it in the bag...over and over again), and going for walks. I'm open to other suggestions!

Oh yeah, we watched Matea one morning and I about lost my mind and realized I was crazy for ever wishing twins upon myself (I had actually hoped I was having twins when I was first pregnant with Kylie). They were both hanging on my leg and whining....it was about to put me over the edge. Luckily, Katie only works 3 hour shifts and was back before I knew it (and she generously brought Jimmy John's for lunch which alone made it worth listening to the whining). It will be much easier when the girls actually care about playing with each other, which is s-l-o-w-l-y showing to be the case.

The last picture is Kylie dressed up for church (her Easter dress). I hate dresses and skirts yet can't resist putting Kylie in them. I cringe when I put tights on her (thinking about how uncomfortable they are!) yet do it nonetheless. Soon enough she'll get to choose whether or not to wear dresses, I guess!

ashlynn's top three:

1. sitting in her wagon. getting out of her wagon. getting back in her wagon.

2. stuffing red wood chips/mulch from the walkway into the gutters. and pulling them out. and stuffing them back in.

3. finding the "perfect" rock from the driveway (we just got a load of limestone) and shoving it in her mouth. then spitting it out in my hand when she gets caught, watching me throw it back into the drive, and hustling back over there to find it again.

i can pretty much guarantee that if she is not playing on the swingset, she is doing one of these things! the simple pleasures of being one...

I know, how about a 3 hour drive down to the cities to see Auntie G?? I think that's a GREAT activity!

I also remember the uncomfortable tights that my mom FORCED me to where at every holiday! But you're right, they are so cute it's hard NOT to put them on her:-) I'm sure I'll be guilty of the same soon enough!
