Updates!

Plenty going on in the Thompson house:
  • I'm starting on a women's soccer league on Tuesday night. I have zero experience and don't even know the rules, but it's a rec league with all experience levels welcome; they may change that policy after I show up! I'm looking forward to a night out that is just for me.
  • Unfortunately, Tuesday's are also Jon's volleyball night which he started a couple weeks ago. He, too, is on a rec league which is a switch from the competitive leagues in the past. Suffice it to say, this will likely be more of a social team:-) We'll have to finagle care for Kylie when our games coincide or overlap.
  • Kylie and I took a trip to New Ulm while our hardwood floors got refinished last week. We returned to find Jon had cleaned up most of the mess (it was just a bit dusty, but nothing atrocious) and had a neighbor help move the furniture back (not to mention picking up some groceries so I didn't have to do that upon returning!). After some rearranging, we're very happy with how those three rooms look. Although the camera doesn't do justice, especially with my photography skills, here is a peek at a few before/after pictures.

  • The day before we were to leave for New Ulm, Kylie ran a fever. She wasn't herself, but didn't show any other signs of being sick. Well, 40 minutes into our drive, she threw up all over. It was disgusting and a bit funny all at the same time. She didn't seem phased by it and actually started playing in the puke before I could find a gas station to pull into. When we got to grandma and grandpa's, she proceeded to have horrible diarrhea for the duration of the trip (as in 10-15 diapers a day). BUT she's all better now...however we got a call this morning that grandpa and great grandma are sick. I can't see how they would have gotten it from her, but who knows.
  • Finally, I despise Duluth right now. Many things about it are really getting to me, but right now the #1 worst thing is the weather. The extended forecast is enough to make me want to crawl up in a ball and hibernate. Granted we don't get many, if any, stifling hot humid days in July that also make me crabby. However, I certainly wouldn't mind being able to turn our heat off for good or not having to think about layers when we go outside (seen as it is nearing the end of May!). But for now, I'll try to have a positive attitude about it.

We all knew it would happen one day, Jonathan is too old to compete :)
